The Day Before by Lisa Schroeder

I picked the book because of its promising summary and was slightly astonished to find the whole book versified.
It took me a few pages to find the rhythm of the writing, but after that, it was a very interesting experience.
From time to time I found myself reading complete text passages very sloppily because the short lines enticed me to hecticnessy.
Rarely was I so puzzled about the motivations of a character as of to those of Amber and Cade. And contrary to Amber’s story, I didn’t precociously catch on to the author’s solution for Cade’s’ story – something which I much enjoyed.
The time frame of the book is quite simple – it takes place in just one day. But in that one day you learn something about the past, the present and the future (mainly) of Amber. Lisa Schroeder almost manages to keep you engaged from the first to the last page. After disclosing Amber’s “secret”, one is curious about Cade’s. And after his announcement you just want to know how this book can possibly end.
I look forward to reading more of Lisa Schroeder’s books and her special writing style.
