Linger by Maggie Stiefvater

Linger (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #2)Linger by Maggie Stiefvater

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I actually wasn’t enthusiastic about hearing that there was a sequel of “Shiver”. Nonetheless I decided to read “Linger” too. The first half of the book dragged on for a bit and it seemed to me, that Maggie Stiefvater wasn’t really sure what to do with the main characters of the first book.

Just like “Shiver” this book is written from the first person perspective but as opposed to the first installment, Maggie Stiefvater doesn’t switch between only two but rather four characters. In the beginning this was really annoying and sometimes confusing. But later this fact was the reason why I became interested in this book again. I think it happened approximately in the middle of the book. Cole and Isabel are very interesting characters and I’m looking forward to reading more about both of them in the next sequel “Forever”. In the last third I also rediscovered my fascination for Grace and Sam and their relationship.

Overall I’m not sure how to score this book. I think something between three and four stars. Three stars because in the beginning “Linger” was very disappointing and four stars because it reaches its full potential in the last half of the book.
