Shiver (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #1)Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Normally I’m not interested in books about vampire or werewolf- stories. Nevertheless a friend recommended “Shiver” to me. It didn’t take long to notice that “Shiver” was not a “normal” werewolf story. These wolves do not transform because of the moon but instead of the cold. And so they’ve only got the summer to be human. And even that end after a few years of changing. But what happens if you know that this is your last summer in human shape and at the same time you find your (human) soul mate?

Maggie Stiefvater writes mainly from the first person perspective but she shift between the two protagonists. I liked her writing style and have absolutely no difficulty to immerse myself in the story. Because of the temperature declaration at the beginning of each chapter you already have compassion with Sam and Grace (the main characters) and their anxieties.

Summarizing: Shiver is a wonderful book to read. Especially for cold winter days and snugly hours at home.
