City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare

I really liked the Mortal Instruments series and was glad to hear that there would be a fourth book.
I started reading with high hopes but was quickly disappointed because the ongoing Jace-Clary-problem “does he/she really love me??” popped up again. But turns out, I was too quick to judge and Cassandra Clare directed this storyline into a more interesting direction.
Another thing I wasn’t sure I would end up liking was the bigger role for Simon. But the author surprised me here too.
I really loved the Simon and Jace scenes, their sarcastic conversations are a joy to read 😀 And also the new characters like Kyle are interesting and I look forward to reading more about them.
So, why did I only give the book 4 stars instead of 5? I didn’t quite experience the emotional connection to the overall story and the characters like I did with its three predecessors.
There are a lot of open questions and I can hardly wait to the read the next book.
